The Boss Babes Workout Playlist
This week on Instagram, I did something different. I let y’all be the deciders of this Thursday’s content. Although votes were pretty split down the middle, I decided that my workout playlist was a good complement to Tuesday’s athletic wear post. If you are curious about my favorite athletic wear and how I transition from the studio to the streets, you can read that here.
The mind-body-music connection
Most of you probably don’t know but, I used to write for a music blog. I’ve always felt deeply connected to music and deeply passionate about it. And it wasn’t because I was a particularly talented singer or, that I even ever learned a musical instrument. It’s always been the power that music has to make you feel something.
I’m going to drop some neurological truth bombs on you for a second. When you hear music that makes your hair stick up on your arms and sends a rush through your veins, that’s Dopamine. Dopamine is basically a happy drug that your brain makes and releases. Additionally, when you work out your body releases endorphins. Endorphins also make you happy. And as Elle Woods says, “Happy people just don’t go shoot their husbands.” Also if you don’t get that reference, you need to brush up on your Legally Blonde knowledge.
The right music can transform your workout
With the right workout playlist and a killer workout, you can be producing all these chemicals that make you happy. And I don’t really think I need to illustrate all the benefits of exercising and being active. Those speak for themselves. Thus, working out and listening to this playlist I created specifically for you boss babes, is going to take your workouts from drab to fab. From lame to truly on your game. From boo to woohoo! Okay I promise I’m done with the rhyming.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, turn this playlist on, tune out of the world, and crush it in the gym! Side note: I tried to get a good mix of genres and to keep it super upbeat. Let me know if you dig this playlist. Let me know if it helped you reach some personal bests. Also, let me know what songs get you pumped to kick butt!
We have the same taste in music & I love it! I’ll be adding these to my gym sesh playlist for sure! And PS- love the Elle Woods reference 😹 she’s my favorite movie character for real.
Yes I love it! Music soul sisters! She was one of my first role models for female empowerment. She was an independent woman who didn’t need no man!
I am bored with my music so this post is absolutely perfect. Thank you,
Awesome! I hope you enjoy the songs
